BETTIE

“I never was the girl next door...”

Bettie Page

In early 2005 I was contacted by a stage director looking for concepts for a play about domination. The only tie was for it to be historically-based.

After a brief discussion, it was natural to choose an event which happened exactly fifty years ago: the Irving Klaw hearing by the Kefauver Commission against Immorality in America - a still dangerously current topic.

One of the inquiry's strangest details was the involvement of an exceptional witness: Bettie Page, the most famous pin-up ever.

In the end, we found ourselves with this, but the show was suspended due to a series of production obstacles. So, waiting for a new premiere, you can read here the full text of the play (in Italian).
