A word a month – Fellatio

woman licking a lollipop

From the dictionary of unusual sex:

Fellatio – An elegant way to say ‘blow job’. And, leaving bad jokes aside, I hope I won’t have to be the one to explain you how to do oral sex to a man. Instead, let me take advantage of this occasion to pass along a few anecdotes on this subject which you might even find useful to know one day. The first is how at least one big kingdom was founded on fellatio: in fact, Cleopatra of Egypt was apparently famous for her passion for mouth services, which she magnanimously bestowed to her generals and ministers as special reward for particular successes – so now we also know the story behind of Anthony’s great love. Moving on to ethology, know that we (and more or less every other mammal, as every male dog owner knows well) are not alone in enjoying those licks – even insects do. Dragonflies, who lack a tongue altogether, go to the length of demanding that the female excites their reproductive organ by bumping her head against it before even considering the idea of mating with her. Lastly, lipstick was invented by ancient Phoenicians as a marketing tool. It was used in fact by those prostitutes specialized in using their mouths, as a way of advertising their particular talent. Voila: see how much culture where you least expected it? National Geographic has its days counted…

This was one of the over 1.500 entries from Ayzad’s book XXX – Il dizionario del sesso insolito, which unfortunately is not available in English yet. If you can read Italian, you can buy it here.
