What are the best kinky movies of 2015?

Kiel fetish film festival

Every year I promise myself I will attend the Fetish Film Festival in Kiel, Germany – and every single year something happens preventing me to. Which is a real shame, since its program is always very good and full of interesting surprises, as you may remember from my post about the 2014 edition.
This time I’ll just agonize over the list of winning kinky movies, which includes the following works…

Kim, by Tobias Rydin

The absolute winner of the festival, this Swedish film is about «a love triangle, freedom and tape», according to the press kit. Turns out that the “tape” is actually three kilometers of saran wrap the protagonist uses for her gigantic art installation, and which reveals a world of erotic and symbolic meanings. Kim walked away with the Best Film of the Year award, Best Actress (Josefin von Zeipel) and Best Actor (Daniel Larsson).

High Shine, by Christina K. Court

The Best Documentary award went to this well-thought reportage from the apparently baffling world of bootblacking, the art of care and maintenance of shoewear and other fetish leather gear. More specifically, it is about the 15-years old International Ms. Bootblack title, and what this inherently submissive practice means for those involved.

Domimaid, by Maik Kern

Two minutes and ten seconds of coolness and self-irony is all it took for this video to win the Best Short Film prize. Watch it, and shiver knowing it is more true to life than most fetishists would care to admit.

Dream House, by Ben Kitnick

The above video won protagonists Vanessa Jeanene and Kevin Patterson the awards for Best Actress (and Actor)  in a Short Film. I actually included it because I loved its bittersweet tone and the discussion it might spark among kinksters.

The Black Widow, by Maria Beatty

The latest work from the undisputed queen of kinky movies (and possibly my all-time favorite erotic director) is an oneiric tale of four women sharing one BDSM dreamspace. One of them, by the jolly moniker of Rosebutt, won the Best Trans Performance award, while the video took home the Best Long Clip prize.

Get Along Better, by Gareth Thomas

The winner of the Best Music Video award painfully earned it – just watch it if you don’t believe me – with a really endearing effort.

Black Lipstick Kiss, by Random Order

The award for the Best Song in a Movie went to this queer number instead. Nice, but not as nice as the film it appears in, namely…

S&M Sally, by Michelle Ehlen

This comedy was featured at the festival but didn’t win any award, yet it sounds pretty smart. A lesbian couple work their insecurities through BDSM, while another threesome has to balance fantasy and reality. It is so nice to see kink can be treated in a lighter vein that, say, The Duke of Burgundywhich won in the Best Poster and Best Website for a Movie categories, by the way.

Oliver alias Sir X, by Ralph Kiening

Another non-winner I would love to watch someday was this documentary about the founder of Sklavenzentrale, the largest German BDSM community. It is always interesting to meet the people behind the curtain, after all, as they can lead to surprising revelations.

So now only one thing remains to do. Come on, all together now: «I promise next year I will make sure to attend…»

I love when people are able to openly discuss sexuality with a positive spin. I feel you’ve done that well in your coverage here.

Found this through @RandomOrderband but, was intrigued enough to read the whole thing. I have a feeling you’ll attend next year 🙂
