Get ready for the bondage picnic!

bondage picnic

Summer is here, and what summer would it be without picnics? You might have already received an invitation for your office or class day out, or maybe you plan to bring the family and kids to a park fight with ants and mosquitos over your sandwiches… but if you don’t have anything planned for this coming Sunday, you’d better be considering to take part in the fourth World bondage picnic.
Born in Barcelona, Spain, simply as ‘Bondage picnic’ in 2009 as rather silly idea, the event took hold and grew up globally year after year. Today it involves dozens of countries and hundreds of cities, and this weekend’s edition will probably make history as the largest bondage event in history – so far.

The concept is as straightforward as the name. On the appointed date, rope-loving kinksters will meet to have lunch surrounded by nature – and to tie up each other. The aim is to have fun together, show off their techniques, teach them and most of all to make it clear that this peculiar hobby is nothing to be ashamed of, nor a criminal activity. Since it takes place in public spaces, of course participants to the bondage picnic won’t do anything explicitly sexual and they’ll be clothed all neat and proper.
There is no doubt that here and there someone will feel offended by these people enjoying their favourite pastime. I wouldn’t be surprised if, in example, police will be called upon the picnics in my oh-so-progressive Italy – but standing up for what you are is the whole point of it after all, so this might even become a source of pride for the kink community.

If you don’t mind confrontations like these – and with bugs – you can find the bondage picnic nearest to you just by googling. You can also check out the official forum on Fetlife, but you’ll have to register for that.
In the meantime, here is one of the many promotional videos for the event:
